Professor Huiping Zhuang
Zhuang Huiping

Associate Professor and PhD Supervisor, Wuxianming School of Intelligent Engineering, South China University of Technology

He received his PhD from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in 2021. He has led more than 10 projects, including a sub-project of the National Science and Technology Innovation 2030 Major Project, National Natural Science Foundation of China projects, the Guangdong Provincial General Program, the CCF-Tencent Rhino-Bird Fund, and Xiaomi Foundation projects. He was selected for the National Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad Award and was invited as a 2025 Overseas Faculty member at Nanyang Technological University to teach EE6430. His research focuses on efficient AI, including efficient continual learning, large models, and embodied intelligence, with nearly 100 published papers. He proposed "Analytic Continual Learning" and opened a specialized branch in continual domain refinement; this direction has produced more than 15 papers in top conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, and CVPR over the past two years, and has recently expanded to large models and embodied intelligence. His related research received the Second Prize of the Natural Science Award from the Guangdong Society of Image and Graphics as the first contributor, a Best Paper Award at a CCF-C international conference, and the Best Student Paper Achievement Award from Singapore's PREMIA Association. He has led students to win First Prize in a CVPR 2025 competition, the National First Prize in the "Challenge Cup" National College Students' Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition, First Prize in the China Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Competition, and the Guangdong Gold Award in the China International College Students' Innovation Competition. He has served multiple times in academic roles at international and domestic conferences, including Co-Chair, and has been selected as a member of the CSIG Youth Working Committee, Deputy Secretary-General of the GDSIG Computer Vision Technical Committee, a Valse EAC member, a JCR Q1 special issue editor, and an ACL Area Chair. He was recognized as an Outstanding Reviewer for ICML 2022.
