Zhuang Huiping
Associate Professor and PhD Supervisor, Shien-Ming Wu School of Intelligent Engineering, South China University of Technology
He received his PhD from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in 2021. He has led projects including a sub-project of the National Science and Technology Innovation 2030 Major Project, an NSFC General Program project, an NSFC Young Scientists Fund (Category C) project, a U35 Special Program for Central Universities project, a Guangdong Provincial General Program project, and projects funded by the CCF-Tencent Rhino-Bird Fund and the Xiaomi Foundation. He received the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-Financed Students Abroad and was invited to serve as an Overseas Faculty member at Nanyang Technological University in both 2025 and 2026, teaching EE6430. His research focuses on efficient AI, including efficient continual learning, large models, and embodied intelligence, with nearly 100 published papers. He proposed "Analytic Continual Learning", establishing a specialized branch of continual learning. This direction has produced more than 20 papers in top conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, and CVPR in recent years and has expanded to large models and embodied intelligence. His related research received the Second Prize of the Natural Science Award from the Guangdong Society of Image and Graphics as the first contributor, a Best Paper Award at a CCF-C international conference, and the Best Student Paper Achievement Award from Singapore's PREMIA Association. He has led students to win First Prize in a CVPR 2025 competition, the National First Prize in the "Challenge Cup" National College Students' Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition, First Prize in the China Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Competition, and the Guangdong Gold Award in the China International College Students' Innovation Competition. He has served multiple times in academic roles at international and domestic conferences, including Co-Chair, and has been selected as a member of the CSIG Youth Working Committee, Deputy Secretary-General of the GDSIG Computer Vision Technical Committee, a Valse EAC member, a JCR Q1 special issue editor, and an ACL Area Chair. He was recognized as an Outstanding Reviewer for ICML 2022.
